Unpacking Your Playmat
Your Wander & Roam playmat arrives rolled up with convenient velcro straps for easy handling. Follow these steps to get it ready for play:
-
Unwrap Your Mat: Remove the velcro straps and unroll your mat on a flat surface.
-
Flatten It Out: Place the mat with the curled edges facing downward. This will help it flatten naturally.
-
Give It Time: Allow the mat to sit for a few nights to fully flatten.
Pro Tip: Save the velcro straps! They’re perfect for securing your mat when you need to store or transport it.
Cleaning Your Playmat
Keeping your Wander & Roam playmat clean is simple and stress-free!
-
Daily Messes: Wipe down the surface with a damp cloth or baby wipe to remove spills, crumbs, and everyday messes.
-
Gentle Cleaning Only: Avoid using cleaning agents, as they can degrade the material and reduce the lifespan of the mat.
-
For Foam Mats: Ensure your cloth is only slightly damp, as excessive water can damage the foam. Never use abrasive scrubbers or harsh chemicals.
Care Instructions
Our specialty foam is a unique material that combines durability, softness, and safety, making it perfect for your family. To help your mat last, follow these care tips:
-
Avoid Prolonged Sunlight Exposure: Foam can discolor or weaken if left in direct sunlight for extended periods. Always store your mat in a shaded or indoor area when not in use.
-
Temperature Sensitivity: Foam is sensitive to extreme heat or cold. Avoid placing it near heaters, radiators, or in freezing conditions, which can warp or damage the material.
-
Prevent Sharp Objects: Keep sharp toys, pet paws, or tools away from the mat, as these can puncture or tear the foam.
-
Dry Thoroughly: After cleaning with a damp cloth, ensure the mat is completely dry before rolling or storing it. Excess moisture can lead to mold or mildew over time.
-
Avoid Heavy Loads: Do not place heavy or sharp-edged furniture on the mat, as this can compress or damage the foam. Lightweight items like foam furniture or bean bags are fine.
-
Store Safely: Roll the mat up with the velcro straps when not in use, and store it in a cool, dry area. Avoid folding it, as this can create creases.
Furniture Overlay Recommendations
To keep your Wander & Roam playmat looking its best, we recommend avoiding placing heavy furniture on it, as this can cause indentations or damage.
Lightweight furniture like foam couches, bean bag chairs, and similar items are perfectly fine and won’t harm your mat.
With a little care, your mat will stay soft, stylish, and ready for all the playdates, workouts, and cozy moments ahead!
Preventing Slipping
Our mats are designed to be as versatile as they are stylish! Since they’re reversible, both sides are made of soft foam, which can result in slight slipping on smooth surfaces like hardwood or tile—similar to rugs or mats without a non-slip backing.
To keep your mat securely in place:
-
Use a Rug Pad: Placing a rug pad underneath your mat can help prevent movement on slippery surfaces.
-
Anchor with Furniture: Position your mat against a wall or under lightweight furniture to create stability.
Colors
At Wander & Roam, your family’s health and well-being are our top priorities. That’s why our playmats are completely chemical-free and sealant-free. While this ensures they are safe and non-toxic, it also means that color fading can occur over time.
You may notice the foam yellowing slightly around the edges as the years go by. This is completely normal for a non-toxic, biodegradable material and does not impact the performance or safety of your mat.
Your mat is still perfectly fine and ready for more play, relaxation, and love for years to come!
Pets
Our mats are safe for pets and many don’t even notice the difference between the mat and an area rug. That said, sharp nails could puncture the foam, as with any soft surface, so we recommend keeping an eye on enthusiastic paws.
Health
Wander & Roam playmats are made from non-toxic, specialty foam. Each mat undergoes rigorous testing to meet and exceed US and European Safety Standards, ensuring they’re safe for your whole family. They are free of PVC, BPA, phthalate, paraben, formaldehyde, lead and latex. As well as being biodegradable, cruelty free, hypoallergenic, and skin safe.
Sustainability
Our mats are crafted from a material that is kind to the planet, ensuring no harm is caused during production, use, or disposal. Plus, they’re fully biodegradable, making them a sustainable choice for your home.
